It's summer. And it's hot... so turning on the stove is NOT something I look forward to. Anything that can be grilled, is completely up my alley right now. Earlier in the year, I made Sausage, Pepper and Onions and served them on hoagie rolls... so why not just change up the meat and dice instead of slice?
Ingredients List:
1 pound Bulk Turkey Sausage
1 pound Ground Turkey
1 Green Pepper (Diced)
1 Red Pepper (Diced)
1 Onion (Diced)
2 Tablespoons Garlic (Minced)
1 1/2 Cups Bread Crumbs
2 Eggs
2 Tablespoons Olive Oil (divided)
Cook peppers & onions till onion just starts to become translucent (5-7 minutes)
Add garlic
Cook till fragrant
Set aside to cool
Mix meat, cooled pepper/onion mixture, bread crumbs and egg in a large bowl
Divide evenly into 4 or 6 patties (mix will be sticky)
Cover a plate with plastic wrap
Smear 1 tablespoon of Olive Oil on plastic wrap (this will prevent your burgers from sticking
Paint remaining tablespoon of Olive Oil on grill
Grill to internal temperature of 165 degrees.
Serve on large buns with Mayo and Mustard (I used Onion Buns)
We actually discovered that these burgers were better the day after. Also, The Man really likes it with BBQ Sauce.
