Chicken Fried Steak w/ Leftover Green Bean Casserole Gravy & Leftover Mashed Potatoes

Are you as tired as I am of figuring out new ways to use your holiday leftovers? What the heck do you do with leftover Green Bean Casserole? Add it to Gravy!


Ingredients List:

For Chicken Fried Steak:

1 1/2 cups Flour

3 tablespoons Seasoned Salt

2 Eggs

1/4 cup Milk

2 Chicken Fried Steak patties

Cooking oil (at least an inch deep in a cast iron frying pan)


For Leftover Green Bean Casserole Gravy:

3 cups of Leftover Green Bean Casserole

1 can Cream of Mushroom soup

1 can Milk (just use the Cream of Mushroom can)

Salt and Pepper (for seasoning if needed)


  1. Heat a cast-iron skillet with at least 1 inch of cooking oil over medium heat.

  2. Pound Steak patties to desired thickness.

  3. Set-up breading station

    1. 1 plate of Flour and mixed Seasoned Salt

    2. 1 plate of Eggs and Milk (mixed)

  4. Place Steak patty into Seasoned Flour.

  5. Place floured steak into Egg Wash.

  6. Place floured and Egg Washed steak back into Seasoned Flour

  7. Once the cooking oil if hot, carefully place the breaded steak into the hot cooking oil.

  8. Cook till golden brown and cooked through.

  9. Once finished, remove Chicken Fried Steak to rack to drain.

  10. For the Gravy: Mix Leftover Green Bean Casserole, Cream of Mushroom Soup and Milk in a sauce pan over medium heat.

  11. Stir to combine.

  12. Heat through.

  13. Serve as gravy.
